Gov't to grant permission for Quran classes in mosques

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has announced that permission to conduct Quran classes in mosques will be granted this week.

In a post on social media, Minister Shaheem said that mosques will be permitted to hold recitation classes starting this week. He said that these classes, taught by imams and Quran teachers, will be offered free of charge. He also said that applications for interested individuals will also be opened this week.

Additionally, Minister Shaheem said that the design of the gowns worn by Huffaz will be unveiled next week. He also highlighted that these gowns will symbolise Islamic culture, knowledge, and civilization.

While Quran recitation classes have been conducted nationwide in previous years, they have not been sustainably offered free of charge. The new initiative will ensure free Quran classes are available and expanded throughout the country. In addition, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has committed to allocating land for the reconstruction of a Quran Centre, fulfilling the government's pledge to establish a national centre for Quran.
