President visits Unveiling Vision 2024 Exhibition

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has visited the Unveiling Vision 2024 Exhibition, organised by the Maldivian Artist Community. The contemporary art exhibition, entitled Unveiling Visions, is a series of exhibitions to showcase the art and skills of Maldivian artists in a single platform. It is the seventh edition of the exhibition, which commenced on July 9. The exhibition was held in collaboration with the National Art Gallery and is well received by the public.

During the visit to the exhibition, President Dr. Muizzu met with some artists of the community seeking information on their artworks, in addition to observing the artworks displayed. The president was accompanied by the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed and the Chairperson of the Maldivian Artist Community Azmee Haleem.

During his visit, President Muizzu signed the book which signed by the visitors to the exhibition. Additionally, a special catalogue consisting of all the details and information on the artworks showcased in the Unveiling Vision 2024, was presented to President Muizzu. The catalogue was gifted by the Chairperson Azmee.

A total of 105 art pieces are displayed in the exhibition. The artworks displayed vary from the mediums used including pencil, water colours, digital media, mix media, sculptures, instalments, and calligraphy. The artworks showcased in this edition portrayed the history, culture and the natural beauty of the Maldives, as well as special messages to the society. Furthermore, the exhibition featured artworks by four of the most prominent artists of the nation as guest artists. The guest artists were Afzal Shaafiu, Abdul Muhaimin, Ismail Shujau and Adheel Ismail.

The exhibition provides the opportunity for individuals who are new to the field and professional artists to participate and display their artworks. Maldivian Artist Community noted that the exhibition serves as a platform for artists to showcase their talents, strengthen the relationship between the artist community and the public while providing more exposure and income opportunities for artists.

Maldivian Artist Community is a private organisation working for the betterment of local artists. Established on January 12, 2016, the organisation aims to enhance the opportunities for Maldivian artists to showcase their works on various platforms, while providing education and training opportunities for them. Currently, over 200 artists are actively working in the organisation.
