Over 2,700 students undergo Thalassemia screening

Over 2700 students have undergone Thalassemia screening, under the nationwide campaign conducted to increase public awareness on Thalassemia. The national campaign commenced on February 4.

Providing insight on the number of students who went through the screening process, the Ministry of Health stated that a total of 2,707 students were screened for Thalassemia from January till the end of last month. Additionally, 2,483 awareness sessions were conducted across 16 schools and four administrative offices during the same period. The students of Arabiyya School were the first students to partake in the nationwide programme.

The campaign's objective is to reduce the birth rate of children with Thalassemia by educating both students and parents about the condition. Information sessions will also be conducted in government ministries and offices as part of this comprehensive national awareness effort.
