The National Award for Public Service will be given to 138 recipients this year. The National Award for Public Service nominations were selected by the National Awards Committee, which was appointed by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The president recommended 70 individuals who have served the state for more than 43 years to the National Awards Committee. The awards will be presented during the official Independence Day function at the Social Centre on July 26.
The National Award for Public Service is presented to recognise the competence, integrity, and dedication of government employees who served the state for more than 35 years and made significant contributions to the development of their respective institutions. The award will also be presented to any individual who meets the requirements for the award, regardless of the position worked for the state.
Last year, the award was presented to individuals who served the nation for individuals who were retired and those continuing to work after 45 years of service. This year, however, President Dr. Muizzu stated that the award will be presented to individuals who served the nation for more than 43 years.
