Maldives discusses with AIIB to secure funding

The Maldives has engaged in discussions with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to secure funding for development projects. The talks were held during a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Zameer and AIIB President Jin Liqun.

During the meeting as part of his ongoing official visit to China, Minister Zameer expressed gratitude to the bank for its previous support, particularly for the Greater Male' Waste Energy Project. He also explored with President Liqun potential funding opportunities for upcoming construction and renewable energy projects aligned with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's development agenda.

At the meeting, Minister Zameer was joined by Minister of Finance Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq and Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib. Their visit to China, which began on July 20, was at the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi and is scheduled to conclude on July 24.
