President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has awarded the National Award for Public Service to 138 recipients. The awards, a medal, a badge of honour and a commemorative plaque were handed to the recipients during the official Independence Day function held at the Social Centre.
The National Award for Public Service is presented to recognise the competence, integrity, and dedication of government employees who served the state for more than 35 years and made significant contributions to the development of their respective institutions. The recipients of this year’s awards include those who have served the state for more than 43 and 47 years. Among the 138 recipients of the award, 30 are women and 108 are men.
The recipients of this year's National Award for Public Service include clerks, administrative officers, community health workers, nurses, secretaries, assistant directors, deputy directors, director generals, magistrates. Additionally, officers of the Maldives National Defence Force and the Maldives Police Service who has served the state for a long period also received the award this year.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Muizzu congratulated all the recipients of the National Award for Public Service. He noted that recipients have faced many difficulties and have made many sacrifices for the country. This year, the President recommended 70 individuals who have served the state for more than 43 years to the National Awards Committee.
