Dornier aircraft flights for the sick resumed with civilian crew

The Maldivian National Defence Force (MNDF) has resumed utilising the Dornier aircraft and two helicopters to transport sick individuals. The aircraft and helicopters were donated by the government of India.

MNDF begun transporting patients with a Dornier aircraft and helicopter, along with civilian crews, to provide emergency medical treatment. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced at the Independence Day ceremony that the first flight carried a patient from Hanimaadhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, to Male' City.

The use of Dornier aircraft and helicopters was discontinued when President Dr. Muizzu began fulfilling his presidential pledge to withdraw Indian troops from the Maldives. Previously, patients were transported by government-introduced air ambulances and seaplanes instead of the Dornier aircraft and helicopters.

The Indian military in the Maldives was completely withdrawn on May 10 and replaced by civilians to operate the Dornier aircraft and helicopters.
