President appoints Nimal as LGA CEO

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Mohamed Nimal as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Local Government Authority (LGA). The appointment was made under the authority granted to him by Article 61(B) of the Decentralisation Act.

Mohamed Nimal previously served as the President of the Male' Atoll Council. His extensive experience includes positions such as the Minister Counsellor at the Maldives High Commission in Sri Lanka and Managing Director of the Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC). He also served as the Managing Director and Board Member of Fenaka Corporation Limited, and Deputy Minister of Tourism at the Ministry of Tourism. Nimal holds a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) from Charles Sturt University, Australia.

In a social media post, Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar congratulated Nimal on his appointment as LGA CEO. He also expressed his best wishes and affirmed his commitment to working with Nimal to strengthen the decentralisation system in the Maldives.
