The national airline, Maldivian, has announced a temporary suspension of its flights to Dhaka, Bangladesh. The airline disclosed that the stoppage is effective immediately, and will be resumed on a later date, which will be announced later.
The suspension is attributed to the current political instability in Bangladesh. The emerging political unrest have grown, leading to the resignation of the country's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Maldivian flights operate to Bangladesh once a week. The airline also operates international routes to Trivandrum, Cochin, and Bangalore in India.
