Alia Investments launches training programme for sea vessel captains

Alia Investments Private Limited has launched a boat operators training programme for sea vessel captains.

The training programme is conducted annually by Alia Investments in collaboration with the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT). It aims to enhance the skills of vessel captains and provide them with essential technical knowledge on vessel safety and security.

Alia Investments said the programme, focused on seafaring proficiency, includes specialised sessions covering both theory and practical skills needed for confident navigation of outboard-powered vessels. The programme also provides detailed information on navigation charts, safety protocols, outboard engine maintenance and troubleshooting, handling passenger medical emergencies, and responding to emergencies like fires.

The training will take place from August 6 to 8, with a total of 64 participants. Various resorts, shipping companies, and government institutions will also participate in the programme.

Alia Investments has also introduced other training programmes, including the Yamaha Technical Training 2024, a joint venture with the Yamaha Technical Academy of Japan. It marks the fifth Yamaha Technical Training Programme in the Maldives. Alia Investments continues to run various community-beneficial programmes. This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the introduction of Yamaha outboard engines in the Maldives.
