STELCO signs with Polytechnic to enhance workforce development

State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) and Maldives Polytechnic have signed an agreement aimed at enhancing workforce development in various employment sectors.

The agreement was signed between Managing Director of STELCO Hussain Fahmy and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maldives Polytechnic Zushan Kamaludeen. It focuses on training employees in technical and vocational fields needed by STELCO, while providing Polytechnic students with opportunities to gain industrial experience at STELCO.

Under the agreement, Maldives Polytechnic will assist STELCO in conducting necessary training programmes and offer Polytechnic graduates opportunities for industrial experience at STELCO, subject to available space. In addition, Polytechnic teachers and students will be able to observe engine overhauls at power plants in Male' City and the Greater Male' Region, and participate in various short training programmes in both technical and non-technical areas, as agreed upon by both parties.

The agreement also allows STELCO employees with the required qualifications and experience to teach courses at Polytechnic. Furthermore, Polytechnic teachers and students will be granted free participation in in-house training programmes conducted by STELCO using foreign trainers. The agreement is set for a duration of five years.
