President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the involvement of youth in national efforts is essential to build a proud nation. He made the statement on his post on the occasion of International Youth Day.
Taking to social media, the president stated the cooperation and participation of the youth in national endeavours needs to be increased to build a proud Maldives. The government notes that the country has entered a whole new era of youth empowerment since President Muizzu took Office.
The Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts has earlier stated that the government will be paying special attention to the youth in every decision taken under the supervision of President Muizzu. As such, the government has made the decision to establish a Presidential Youth Advisory Council, to increase youth participation in national affairs.
International Youth Day is celebrated annually on August 12 and was first celebrated in 2000. The day is celebrated by the United Nations to raise awareness on various issues related to youth.
