Maldives and Bahrain discuss strengthening bilateral ties

Maldives and Bahrain has held discussions aiming to strengthen bilateral ties. Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer had an audience with Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who also serves as the Prime Minister of Bahrain. The meeting took place at the Al-Qudaibiya Palace, during the minister’s ongoing official visit to Bahrain.

At the meeting, Minister Zameer presented a letter from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, addressed to the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Thanking the leadership and the government of Bahrain for the closeness accorded to the Maldives throughout the past few decades, the ministers discussed ways to deepen existing bilateral ties between both countries. They also deliberated on international issues of mutual interest such as the global economic situation, climate change and environment.

Furthermore, Minister Zameer is scheduled to meet with other government dignitaries of Bahrain, including the minister of finance and national economy, the minister of oil and environment and the minister of tourism, to explore opportunities to enhance collaboration in various sectors between the two countries.

The official visit was undertaken by the minister on the invitation of Bahrain's Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and is set to conclude on August 15. Minister Zameer is being accompanied by the Ambassador-at-Large Ahmed Naseer, Secretary Bilateral Dr. Hala Hameed, Joint Secretary Mariyam Reesha and Assistant Director Mizna Waheed.
