President sends greeting on Pakistan's 77th Independence Day

President Muizzu sent separate letters to the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and the Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif conveying greetings and good wishes. In his letters, the Maldivian President extended warm felicitations to the leaders, the government and the people of Pakistan.

President Muizzu also expressed confidence that the close relations between the Maldives and Pakistan will continue to grow for the socioeconomic development of the two brotherly countries. He further extended his best wishes for the President and Prime Minister's good health and well-being, as well as for further progress and prosperity for the people of Pakistan.


The Maldivian President also took to social media to send greetings on the occasion of the Independence Day of Pakistan. In his post on social media, President Muizzu expressed hope that Pakistan would continue to flourish in peace, prosperity and unity. He also expressed confidence that the Maldives-Pakistan relation will continue to flourish in the years to come.

The Vice President of the Maldives, Hussain Mohamed Latheef also took to social media to send greetings on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day. In his post, the Vice President expressed hope that the enduring friendship and cooperation between Maldives and Pakistan will continue to flourish. The VP also wished Pakistan continued strength, unity and prosperity.

Pakistan’s Independence Day is observed annually on August 14 commemorating the day Pakistan achieved independence and was declared a sovereign state following the termination of the British Raj in August 1947.
