Maldives and Japan signs agreement on HR development

Maldives and Japan have entered a significant agreement on the development of human resources. The agreement for the Project for Human Resource Development was signed by the Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development Dr. Mariyam Marya and the Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives Takeuchi Midori, at a special signing ceremony.

The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship by the Japanese Grant Aid (JDS) will provide the opportunity for 24 civil servants of the Maldives, to complete their Masters studies in Japanese universities. The Master programmes should within a duration of one to two years. The expenses of the programmes undertaken will be covered by the Japanese government. Under the agreement, during the past four years, while 24 scholarship opportunities were available, 22 students pursued their tertiary education.

The signing ceremony was attended by the senior officials and employees of the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development, Commissioner of Civil Service Fathimath Shareef, Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer, and dignitaries from the Embassy of Japan in Maldives.
