All imams to be trained this year under Refresher Programme: Gov't

Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, announced that all imams in mosques will undergo training this year as part of the Imam Refresher Programme. The programme was launched in February and has begun its training sessions for imams in Dhaalu and Meemu Atolls, with 49 imams from these regions participating.

In a social media post, Minister Shaheem shared that over 100 imams have already taken part in the refresher programme. He also emphasised that the goal is to extend this training to all 700 permanent imams working in mosques across the country by the end of the year.

The National Imam Refresher Programme is specifically designed for permanent imams in 11 regions, offering them additional training across nine subjects. The curriculum focuses on essential Islamic knowledge in areas such as the Holy Quran, Tajweed, Tafsir, Fiqh, Hadith, and Aqidah, while also aiming to enhance the abilities of imams in mosque management and leadership.
