Minister of State for Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ali Shamman has underscored the priority given to youth empowerment by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and his government. He stated the government is exerting maximum efforts to build and further empower the youth.
Speaking at the 3rd Voice of Global South Summit 2024 held online, State Minister Shamman shed light on the government's efforts to empower the youth during the past nine months. As such, the state minister stated the government has involved the youth in creating several policies pertaining to national development and the establishment of the Presidential Youth Advisory Board, an initiative recommended by President Dr. Muizzu.
Furthermore, State Minister Shamman emphasised the government's unwavering efforts to provide the youth with higher education opportunities. Under these efforts, the government offers opportunities for students to earn their first degree under the state's expense, while providing low interest loans to students who prefer studying abroad. This move aims to ensure the youth are capable and skilled to contribute to the national development and growth. The state minister highlighted the vision of President Dr. Muizzu, in which the youth of the nation will have a say in all the decisions made by the government.
During the summit, State Minister Shamaan recognised the success of the G20 Summit, which was chaired by India. The state minister acknowledged the pivotal role India played in the summit, benefitting the progress and development of countries which were not included in the G20 list. He also shed light on the challenges faced within countries in South Asia, and discussed potential solutions for the issues, while stressing the significance of investing in more youth empowerment opportunities.
The 3rd Voice of Global South Summit 2024 was attended by youth ministers and senior delegates from South Asian countries. It purports to bring countries of the Global South together, to share their perspectives and priorities on a common platform across a whole range of issues.
