The President's Office has announced the opening of applications for the position of Prosecutor General of the Maldives as of August 27.
The application for the Prosecutor General Position was opened following the dismissal of the former Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem, on August 22. Any citizens of the age of 25 will be eligible for the position. The President's Office has specified that application forms and necessary documents will be accepted from September 10–11, between 08:30 and 12:00, at the office.
Under the Prosecutor General's Act, a new appointment must be made within 30 days if the position becomes vacant. Meanwhile, the Parliament has resolved to convene two sitting to appoint a new Prosecutor General as well.
