The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has launched a programme to provide Huffaz (individuals who have memorised the Holy Quran) the opportunity for an Umrah tour. The first Hafiz who was presented with the opportunity was Al-Hafiz Ali Raif. The letter was presented to Raif by the Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.
Speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate the programme, Minister Dr. Shaheem stated that this initiative aims to build a society which values religious principles and encourage such practices. The minister stated that memorising the Quran at the highest rank was a remarkable accomplishment.
The project of providing Umrah tours to Huffaz was announced by the minister, during his address at the closing ceremony of the 36th National Quran Competition.
