The Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC) has revealed that the Broadcast Audience Survey will be conducted to determine the public's favorite television programmes.
Speaking to PSM News, President of MBC Mariyam Waheeda said that the survey will identify the most-watched programmes and aid the commission in compiling a channel rating list. She said that the survey will also assess the percentage of channel usage across rebroadcasting networks and other platforms. She emphasised that the survey presents an opportunity to enhance the quality of current programmes in the Maldives. She also said that it will provide insight into public opinions on improving both political and social programming.
MBC has tasked the Institute for Research and Innovation at Villa College with conducting the survey, which was launched last week. Villa College has been given 10 weeks to complete the project. In addition, the commission has issued a regulation for compiling the channel rating list. This regulation mandates an audience survey as part of the process to rate TV channels, considering the marks received by each channel.
