Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology has revised the expat work site registration process. The ministry revealed amendments brought to the documents of expat workers, which are required to be submitted by the employers seeking foreign labourers. This initiative aims to enhance the government's efforts in monitoring the immigrants and strengthen the process of issuing relevant permits to such workers.
The revisions made ensures a more convenient and expedite documentation and application process for employers. The ministry disclosed that it will also assist in data verification by the ministry as well. The revisions mandate employers to submit five types of documents when proposing for the work site registration.
The documents required to be submitted include; the Project Agreement (Construction) Form to register expat workers to the work site, Project Agreement for expat workers and register the work site, the Declaration to register long-term leased assets as the work site in the expat system, the Declaration to register leased properties (land, building or vessel) as the work site in the expat system and the Declaration to register transportation facilities taken on instalment as the work site in the expat system.
Furthermore, the ministry has also brought amendments to the Declaration Form to register expat workers and work sites. It noted that employers must submit the amended form to register work sites from October onwards. Additionally, the ministry has also brought changes to the forms pertaining to the appointment of a representative for foreign workers, to communicate within the expat system. This ministry stated that this form will be utilised from September 16 onwards. It added that employers who fail to furnish the aforementioned documents shall be deemed to have submitted an incomplete application.
