Housing Ministry starts monitoring progress of PSIPs

The Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development has started to meet with institutions and ministries, aiming to monitor the progress and updates of the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIPs) Projects in the islands. The meetings commenced on August 28, by the ministry's Planning Department.

During the meetings, the ministry will seek information pertinent to the PSIP projects conducted by the respective ministries or institutions and the most recent updates. So far, the ministry has met with a total of ten administrative bodies. The ministry stated that this initiative aims to seek the challenges faced by the ministries and institutions to conduct the projects and provide assistance to resolve the issues. It will also monitor the progress of individual projects and the expenses of the projects as well. Additionally, the meetings focus on measures that can be undertaken to expedite the progress of the projects, discuss projects planned to be launched and the preparation efforts to launch such projects.

While a total of USD 3.2 billion was approved for this year's budget, USD 577 million was allocated for PSIP projects. A large portion of the budget was allocated for PSIP projects, aimed to resolve issues related to inaccurate estimations. The government has decided to allocate the largest portion of the state-budget of 2025 for the PSIP projects, aiming to resolve the housing crisis.
