Haleem affirms to ensure CA Maldives can run on its own revenue

The new President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (CA Maldives) Mohamed Haleem Abdulla has revealed that the new council of CA Maldives, aims to ensure that the financial stability and security of the institution.

Speaking at the ceremony held to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the institution and the completion of the term of its first council, President of CA Maldives Haleem affirmed that the new council will exert planned efforts to promote the field of accounting in the Maldives. Aiming to achieve this goal, Haleem stated that the council will prioritise four key objectives during this tenure. This includes, increasing more members, maintaining the quality of the rules and regulations, working to ensure that CA Maldives is accepted as a separate institution from the government, and increasing the institution's revenue.

During the ceremony, Former President of CA Maldives Hussain Niyaz, who also served as the Auditor General, stated that his council worked to ensure that CA Maldives was managed and run as per international guidelines. These efforts have yielded positive results as the institution will become a member of the International Federation of Accountants this November. The ceremony was attended by the former council of the institution, former members and other professional individuals within the field.

CA Maldives' council consists of an auditor general, a commissioner general of taxation and a financial controller. The new council will comprise of a president, vice president, as well as six additional members. Individuals were elected for the positions after a voting session within the members of the institution.

Established in 2020, CA Maldives aims to arrange the accountancy profession in the Maldives as per international guidelines, establish accountancy as a clear profession and promote the field. It was established under the Chartered Accountants Act.
