PNC candidate wins Maarandhoo Council by-election

Abdul Hameed Abdul Sattar, the candidate from the People’s National Congress (PNC), has emerged victorious in the recent by-election for the Maarandhoo Council. The election, held on September 14, saw Abdul Hameed clinch the seat against his rival from the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

The by-election was conducted from 0800hrs to 1600hrs and was necessitated by the passing of Ahmed Rameez, who had served as the vice-president of the Maarandhoo Council until his death on July 13 of the previous year.

Following his victory, Abdul Hameed received congratulations from the ruling PNC, which has expressed its satisfaction with the outcome. The PNC's win in this by-election reflects continued support for PNC.
