Self-employed Maldivians can now register in its registration system: BCC

The Business Centre Corporation (BCC) has revealed that self-employed individuals in the Maldives are now able to register through its newly opened registration system.

BCC said that the registration system aims to create a centralised database for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), identify self-employed individuals and their areas of operation, ensure a supportive business environment, and offer the necessary assistance for their growth. The centre has also established a procedure for registering self-employed persons.

The registration process is available from September 27 via an online portal, with the link accessible through BCC social media platforms and website. In addition, individuals needing help with the registration process can visit BCC head office building in Male' City or business centres across the atolls for support in completing forms and submitting required documents.

Speaking on the initiative, Deputy Managing Director of BCC Samih Adam said that there are individuals conducting business activities who are not required to formally register their businesses. He said that such individuals are considered self-employed. He emphasised that the key purpose of the register is to document their information, helping to foster a more favorable environment for them. He also highlighted that as an organisation committed to SME development, BCC aims to use the register to better understand the self-employed sector and support its sustainability.

BCC encouraged all self-employed individuals across the Maldives to take advantage of this opportunity, noting that registration will offer them various benefits to help sustain and grow their businesses.
