Maldives and Bangladesh discuss internship programs for medical students

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The two leaders discussed several key areas of cooperation, including people-to-people exchange programs, climate change adaptation, and the enhancement of ties in the blue economy and maritime transportation.

President Dr. Muizzu emphasized the importance of strengthening educational connections, particularly through exchange programs. He advocated for increased opportunities for Maldivian students, highlighting the need for internship programs in Bangladesh that would provide medical students with valuable hands-on experience.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering diplomatic ties and advancing strategic cooperation on shared issues of concern. They expressed their dedication to fostering deeper bilateral relations in the future.
