Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, announced plans for an investor forum in the Maldives designed to attract Saudi businesses. He shared this information during his current visit to Saudi Arabia while speaking with PSM News.
Minister Saeed mentioned that discussions are underway to organize an investment forum in the Maldives, expected to take place in December or January. This event aims to bring Saudi businesses and importers, particularly those interested in investing in the Maldives, to explore available investment opportunities.
The Minister’s visit to Saudi Arabia focuses on strengthening trade relations between the two nations. During his trip, he met with the Saudi Commerce Minister and Chairman of the General Authority of Foreign Trade, Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi.
In their meeting, Minister Saeed noted that the Saudi Minister highlighted the country's close monitoring of ongoing development projects in the Maldives, particularly in the areas of housing and economic development. The Saudi Minister of Commerce assured that Saudi Arabia would offer comprehensive support for these initiatives.
Following the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed to enhance trade and economic relations between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Minister Saeed met with Saudi Investment Minister Ibrahim al-Mubarak, where they discussed increasing investments and creating new business opportunities between the two countries.
During his visit, the Minister is also scheduled to meet with the Saudi Business Association and engage with representatives from Saudi Arabia's creator economy.
