Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam has stated the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia to strengthen the bilateral ties in terms of business and trade, will facilitate the export of local fish products to Saudi Arabia. The MoU was signed during the official visit to Saudi Arabia, undertaken by the Minister of Economic Trade and Development Mohamed Saeed. The visit aims to enhance the bilateral relations between the two nations in terms of trade.
In a post shared on social media, following the signing of the MoU, Minister Shiyam stated that the agreement aims to promote the fisheries sector, increase the export of local fish products and sharing information as well as bring about technological advancements. The minister noted that the MoU will also facilitate more investment opportunities in the mari-culture field, revealing that this is a pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Highlighting that Saudi Arabia is a country with a growing market for seafood, Minister Shiyam stated that the agreement will facilitate the export of local fish products to Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the government has revealed that a business-related forum will be held in the Maldives, following the signing of the MoU.
