Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau has called on the Maldives Police Service (MPS) to ensure that officers provide unwavering support to every citizen seeking help. He made the appeal during a visit to Haa Alifu Atoll, where he met with MPS officers stationed across different islands.
As part of his visit, Commissioner Shujau held discussions with the local island councils of Dhidhdhoo, Kelaa, and Utheemu, as well as the women's development committees (WDCs) and local police officers. He also engaged with island residents, listened to their concerns, and urged the officers to bring services closer to the residents. He also emphasised the importance of not disappointing anyone seeking help from the police and highlighted the key role law enforcement plays in local development.
Commissioner Shujau's visit aims to assess the crime situation in Haa Alifu Atoll and address public concerns. The Commissioner also discussed collaboration with the community to reduce crime and ensure public safety. His visit, which continues until October 7, includes stops in Baarah, Filladhoo, Thakandhoo, Maarandhoo, Hoarafushi, Thuraakunu, Uligan, and Ihavandhoo, in addition to Dhidhdhoo, Kelaa, and Utheemu. Senior police officials are also accompanying him, and the visit focuses on understanding the crime landscape and exploring solutions in partnership with the community.
