The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development has announced that the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) has validated 1,333 qualifications to date.
The Qualifications Recognition service ensures that qualifications earned by students from both local and international higher education institutions meet the MNFQ standards set by the MQA. As such, students can submit their certificates to the MQA for validation or request quality assurance for a programme. After reviewing and verifying the level of the certificate, the MQA issues a document confirming its level, stamped by the authority.
The higher education ministry said that a total of 1,621 qualifications have been submitted to the MQA for validation so far this year, with 1,333 already validated. The government aims to enhance the quality of higher education in the Maldives, aspiring to create a strong education system that attracts international students to Maldivian universities. The ministry also highlighted that the MQA is currently working to achieve this by ensuring the quality of courses offered at higher education institutions and strengthening the academic caliber of graduates from universities and colleges.
