MNU wins award for Best Culinary Institution in the Indian Ocean for third time

The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS) of the Maldives National University (MNU) has won the award for the Best Culinary Institution in the Indian Ocean region at the fifth Annual World Culinary Awards, held in Summersalt, Jumeirah Al Naseem, Dubai. MNU was presented this award in 2021 and 2023 as well.

MNU won the award based on its efforts to build and develop culinary skills, and the progress it has achieved in the sector. As such, the faculty has conducted various culinary courses and participated in several culinary competitions held both, in national and international platforms.

Following this achievement, Zeenath Solih, Dean of the FHTS, stated that it was an honour to receive this award for the third time. She added that this represents the capabilities of faculty as well.

The World Culinary Awards is the sister event of the World Travel Awards, both of which were inaugurated in 1994. The World Culinary Awards serves to celebrate and reward excellence in the culinary industry. The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS) of MNU was established in 1987, focusing on human development in the tourism industry. Several students are currently enrolled and seeking higher education from this faculty.
