Maldives welcomes over 100,000 tourists from India

Ministry of Tourism reveals that the Maldives has welcomed over 100,000 tourists from India up to this date.

According to the latest daily updates report publicised by the tourism ministry, a total of 103,438 tourists from India visited the Maldives. India ranks as the sixth-largest market for tourism in the Maldives. Last year, India was the number one market for tourism in the Maldives, with over 200,000 tourists.

While the Maldives has welcomed over 100,000 tourists from India, the government has been exerting efforts to increase the tourist arrivals from India. Under these efforts, a significant event, "Welcome India" was held in July by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), showcasing the Maldives' tourism industry in three different cities in India.

Additionally, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, in his latest visit to India, also worked on promoting the tourism industry of the Maldives. As such, he participated in a special tourism event in Mumbai, which was attended by several Bollywood stars and individuals active in India's film production industry. Following this, remarkable progress has been made, as several Indian celebrities are spending their holidays in the Maldives. The photos they take in the Maldives and post on social media plays a vital role in attracting tourists to the nation.

The latest statistics indicate that a total of 1,693,952 tourists have visited the Maldives, so far this year. This is a notable improvement of 9.5%, compared to last year. The government aims to welcome at least two million tourists to the Maldives by year-end. The tourism ministry anticipates that this goal will be achieved during December.
