President ratifies third amendment to Anti-Corruption Commission Act

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has ratified the Third Amendment to the Anti-Corruption Commission Act (Act No. 13/2008), introducing key changes to the procedures for appointing and resigning the Commission's President and Vice President. The amendment was passed by the Parliament during the 53rd session of the 20th Parliament on November 25, 2024.

The President is now required to appoint both the President and Vice President of the Anti-Corruption Commission from among its members. These appointments must receive a majority vote of approval from the People’s Majlis members present and voting during a parliamentary session. The amendment guarantees that the current President and Vice President of the Commission will continue in their roles unless lawfully removed. Resignation procedures for the President and Vice President have been updated, mandating that resignations be submitted in writing directly to the President.
Implementation

The Third Amendment to the Anti-Corruption Commission Act will come into effect following its ratification and publication in the Government Gazette.
