A travel ban has been imposed on four individuals, including former Minister of State for Housing Akram Kamaluddin and other top officials from the ministry, in relation to the Binveriyaa Scheme corruption.
PSM News has learned that the passports of Akram Kamaluddin and three other former and current top officials of the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development have been held following an Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) probe into the Ministry having allocated land under the Binveriyaa Scheme to individuals not listed as recipients of land plots. The three other individuals implicated in the case are Senior Executive Director Mohamed Arif and former Directors General Ahmed Vishal Naseem and Lirugam Waheed.
Earlier, the court had ordered withholding the passports of 20 individuals connected to the case, including Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, Managing Director of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed, Deputy Managing Director of Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC).
