Public Service Media (PSM) has been appointed the official media partner of the International Tourism Film Festival Maldives 2016, organised by Sun Hotels and Resorts. The agreement was signed by Deputy Managing Director of PSM Aminath Shaayan Shahid and Business Development Director of Sun Hotels and Resorts, Evgenia Boyankova at a ceremony held today at the PSM Radio Building.
According to the organiser, the International Tourism Film Festival titled “Following the Equator” is a significant event in the world of cinema. Sun Hotels and Resorts said it is the first event of its kind in the Maldives, and it aims to gather different ages, interests and backgrounds at one place.
The festival will be held at The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi Resort from July 10 to 12, the organiser said. The hotel group also said awards will be conferred at the festival in 10 categories, and that over 200 films were submitted with 45 being nominated in different categories.
Speaking at the function Shaayan said that "under the agreement, PSM will utilise all mediums under its umbrella to promote the event". Business Development Director of Sun Hotels and Resorts Evgenia Boyankova said the festival will help promote Maldives as a tourist destination.
“Following the Equator” will combine professionals, celebrities and guests from all over the world to share their passion of travelling and seeing the beauty of it. During its three-day run, ITFFM will feature an array of nightly special events, including orange carpet premieres, gala celebrations, filmmaker receptions, compelling filmmaker Q&As, international spotlights, industry seminars and musical performances.
