Parliament on Tuesday endorsed the nominations of non-resident Ambassadors to five countries and representatives to four international organisations.
Parliament during its sitting on Tuesday gave the greenlight to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s nominations of non-resident Ambassadors to Bhutan, Kuwait, Egypt, Canada and the Swiss Federation.
President Dr Muizzu’s nominations of representatives to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), International Maritime Organisation (IMO), International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) were also approved by the Parliament on Tuesday.

- Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Dr Salma Rasheed to WTO
- High Commissioner of Maldives to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Dr Iruthisham Adam to IMO
- Ambassador of Maldives to the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed Hussain Shareef to IRENA
- Ambassador of Maldives to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Sareer to OIC
Non-resident Ambassadors Endorsed by the Parliament
- Ambassador of Maldives to Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Sareer as the non-resident Ambassador to Egypt
- Ambassador of Maldives to Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Sareer as the non-resident Ambassador to Kuwait
- Ambassador of Maldives to the United States, Abdul Ghafoor as the non-resident Ambassador to Canada
- High Commissioner of Maldives to Bangladesh, Shiuneen Rasheed as the non-resident ambassador to Bhutan
- Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Dr Salma Rasheed as the non-resident Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation
In addition, Parliament on Tuesday also approved Maldives’ participation in the ‘the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works.’
