Maldives and Saudi Arabia Sign Agreement on Archival Cooperation

The Maldives and Saudi Arabia have signed an agreement on assistance and cooperation in the field of archiving and record management.

The agreement was signed by the Director General of National Archives, Mohamed Amir Ahmed on behalf of the Maldives, and the Director General of Saudi Arabia’s Center for Archives and Records, Dr Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al-Tamimi.

The agreement covers archiving, indexing, preservation and maintenance of archival materials, maintenance of photographs, charts, audiovisuals, treatment and restoration of old materials, training individuals in these areas, sharing new knowledge and experiences on archiving traditions and modern methods, concepts and technologies, as well as training specialists.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Archives in the Digital Age conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, held from 16 to 18 of this month. The signing ceremony was attended by the Maldivian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmed Sareer and the Secretary General of the International Council on Archives (ICA).
