Maldives Highlights Investment Opportunities to Sri Lankan Businesses

Sri Lankan businesses have been briefed on business and investment and trade opportunities in the Maldives. The information was shared by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel during his ongoing official visit to Sri Lanka, at the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart, Vijitha Herath.

During the meeting held at the Maldivian High Commission in Sri Lanka, Minister Khaleel met with local businesses and investors. In a social media post following the meeting, the Minister said he briefed the Sri Lankan business community on the Maldives’ plans to further enhance trade relations with Sri Lanka, and opportunities available for investment.

The Foreign Minister said he also shared with Sri Lankan businessmen and investors the government's policies to accelerate the economy, strengthen the financial system and increase investor confidence. He stated that he also briefed them on the Maldives’ fiscal and economic policies, emphasising the positive trajectory of the country’s economic development. The strategic measures taken by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to ensure sustained growth and stability in the Maldives were also outlined by the Minister.

Official discussions held with the Sri Lankan government as part of Minister Khaleel’s visit also focused on trade relations, exploring investment and business opportunities.
