Maldives Hosts First China Market Familiarisation Trip of 2025

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has collaborated with Singapore Airlines to host a familiarisation trip for Chinese media representatives and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in the Maldives.

Held from 18 to 23 February, the trip provided participants with firsthand experience of the Maldives' world-class hospitality at Pullman Maldives Maamutaa and The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives, MMPRC said.

“This is the first familiarisation trip of the year targeting the Chinese market as part of our ongoing efforts to position the Maldives as a premier luxury destination,” MMPRC said

According to the MMPRC, the trip showcased the Maldives’ diverse offerings and exclusive getaways, providing participants with a firsthand experience of its unique attractions.

“By highlighting the Maldives’ distinctive aspects, the trip aimed to enhance destination awareness and inspire greater interest among Chinese travellers,” it added.

As of 23 February, Maldives has welcomed 56,150 tourists from China.

Efforts to strengthen the Maldives' appeal in the Chinese market include
targeted campaigns showcasing the Maldives’ unique experiences, media, travel trade, and KOL familiarisation trips to deepen engagement, and joint promotional activities with leading travel partners.

MMPRC is also participating in prominent industry events to expand market reach, planning a series of roadshows in China, and enhancing digital campaigns with engaging video content to attract more travellers.
