DHE seeks placements for Maldivian medical students

Department of Higher Education, DHE reveals it has reached agreements with some regional universities on securing placements for Maldivian medical students.

Many local students choose regional universities to pursue MBBS degrees and other medical education programmes.

DHE said it had held discussions with some universities in the region to alleviate difficulties faced by Maldivians in seeking placements.

Discussions were also focused on securing affordable tuition rates and convenient payment options for Maldivian students.

Speaking to PSM, Deputy Minister of Education Azleena Ahmed said they would soon sign an agreement with Kotelawala Defence University in Sri Lanka, while the Pakistani government had pledged 25 placements for Maldivians from their top medical university at the same rates offered for local students.
