Male’ City Deputy Mayor Steps Down from Post

The Deputy Mayor of Male’ City, Ahmed Nareesh has resigned from the post.

Nareesh announced his resignation on social media, stating his intention to serve the country and its people in a different capacity. He shared a copy of his resignation letter in his post.

In his letter, Nareesh confirmed his resignation from both his roles as Deputy Mayor and Councilor for the Maafannu Central constituency. He expressed gratitude to the citizens and the leaderships of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) and Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) leadership for their support during the 2021 local council elections.

Nareesh also thanked President Dr Mohamed Muizzu for his guidance, and described the President as a leader who works effectively with individuals of different political views to achieve the desired results swiftly. He added that the President is a leader who brought rapid and positive changes to Male’ City, and appreciated the valuable lessons he learned from him.

Nareesh said his time in the Male’ City Council gave him the opportunity to gain experiences that contributed to his personal and professional growth. He also expressed gratitude to Mayor Adam Azim for the guidance and lessons received during their time working together.
