Rally Held in Male’ to Show Solidarity with Palestine

A mass rally was held in Male’ City on Friday where a large number of Maldivians gathered to express their solidarity with the people of Palestine amidst the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Israel’s military campaign in Gaza began on 7 October 2023. While a ceasefire held for nearly two months earlier this year, the Israelis have since resumed their inhuman massacre of Muslims in Gaza in violation of the ceasefire agreement. More than 62,000 people have been martyred in the genocide, with thousands displaced as entire neighborhoods lie in ruins.

The event held in support of Palestine, entitled "With Gaza," was organised by religious scholars and religious organisations of the Maldives. A special motorcycle rally was held as part of the event, kicking off at 16:15 from the Rasfannu area and travelling along Ameenee Magu and Majeedhee Magu before returning to its starting point.

A large number of people participated in the event, with demonstrators carrying banners and placards in Palestinian colors, and displaying slogans in support of Palestinian rights. Speakers called for an immediate end to Israel’s continued attacks on Gaza, the obstruction of humanitarian aid and the suffering endured by the Palestinian people. A special prayer for victory for the Palestinian people was offered to conclude the event.
