President Hails Doctors for Aiding Effort for Better Health System

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has paid a special tribute to local doctors for the advice and cooperation in his Administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare services in the country.

In a special message posted on social media to celebrate the National Doctors Day, President Dr Muizzu said the health of the Maldivian people remains his Administration’s top priority.

“I would like to thank the doctors for their advice and cooperation in this effort to strengthen the health service,” the President said.

The National Doctors’ Day is marked annually on April 18. It is marked on the day the first Maldivian doctor began service in 1964.

Since assuming office in November 2023, President Dr Muizzu and his Administration has launched multiple initiatives to overhaul the country’s flailing healthcare system, with critical infrastructure, ensure medicine and equipment availability along with building human resource capacity across the country.

The Administration has also prioritised capacity building of local doctors by securing technical training opportunities through its development partners.
