The Dhivehi Language Academy held a special Children's Evening to celebrate this year's Dhivehi Language Day, marked annually on 14 April.
The children's evening held by the Academy at Ruhgandu area in Hulhumale’, with strong participation from the public. The evening was attended by pre-schools from Male’, and various stalls were set up, offering different games and activities based on various aspects of the Dhivehi language.
Speaking to PSM News, the Director of the Dhivehi Language Academy Shahma Ali said that the opportunity had been provided to read stories written in Dhivehi and perform various forms of poetry on stage. Participants received small gifts takin part in the activities at the various stalls.
Children who visited the children's evening expressed their enjoyment and said the evening allowed them the opportunity to participate in various sports and activities related to the language. The event piqued their interest in the Dhivehi language, they said.
A book exhibition was held at the Academy's stall at the even, where books featuring stores and educational content were available for purchase.
The evening was organised with the support of Dhondhooni Little Learners, Maafannu Madharusaa, Falah Pre-School, Excel International School and Housing Development Corporation (HDC).
