Parliament passes Civil Service Act amendment

Parliament on Monday approved an amendment to the Maldives Civil Service Act.

The bill, tabled by Dhidhdhoo MP Abdul Latheef Mohamed, was passed as recommended by the Committee on Independent Institutions with 46 votes in favour and 22 against.

The Committee Report on the Bill was presented to the floor by member of the Committee on Independent Institutions, Vilufushi MP Riyaz Rasheed. 12 members spoke on the report during time allocated for debate.

The First Reading of the Bill was held on June 7, with the bill accepted for parliament consideration and sent for Committee review on June 13.
