The Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) has opened application for its August intake, offering a wide range of academic programmes including with two newly introduced courses.
The August intake offers 69 different courses. These include three PhD programmes, 18 Master’s degrees, one Postgraduate Diploma, 15 Bachelor's degree, two Associate Degree courses, 11 Diploma and 19 Certificate level courses.
The newly introduced courses offered by the university includes Masters of Teaching in Higher Education and Ijaza course on 10 Qira’ats of the Quran.
The main fields of study of the courses offered include Quran and Hadith, Shariah and Law, Fiqh, Islamic Studies, Imamship, Language, Education, Finance, Accounting, Leadership and Administration Management and Journalism.
Providing details on the new courses, IUM’s Vice Chancellor Dr Ali Zahir emphasised the university’s dedication to fostering the trust of the students and increasing interest among students.
"The University is committed to expanding the education and services offered by the institute, and ensuring that the University environment is a learning-friendly and student-friendly environment,” Ali Zahir said.
This year's August intake courses will be conducted at the University's learning centres in Ungoofaaru of Raa Atoll,Naifaru of Lhaviyani Atoll, Fonadhoo of Laamu Atoll, Thinadhoo of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, Fuvahmulah City, and Addu City Meedhoo, in addition to Male’ City. All degree level courses offered at IUM and its learning centres are tuition-free as part of the government's free degree programme.
The deadline for applications for this year’s August intake is Tuesday, 15 July, at 1:00 p.m.
