Acting Police Chief Urges More Transparency to Boost Public Trust

The Deputy Commissioner of the Maldives Police Service (MPS), Ismail Naveen has urged maximum possible transparency to maintain public confidence in the service.

MPS on Thursday announced major changes to the top brass of the service.

  • Superintendent of Police Rajni Shuaib as the Head of Thilamale’ Police
  • Chief Inspector of Police Ibrahim Imran has been appointed as Head of Traffic Police
  • Superintendent of Police Ishaaq Adam Fulhu as Head of Specialist Tactical Response
  • Chief Inspector of Police Mohamed Shaheem as Head of Custodial Standards and Development
  • Superintendent of Police Nahid Hussain as Head of Protective Security

DCP Naveen, currently serving as the acting Police Commissioner, during the meeting with the newly appointed top brass stressed the importance of communication skills in the performance of police duties. Naveen said every police officer should learn strong communication skills and use them in the execution of duties and responsibilities.

Naveen's remarks highlighted the responsibilities of police officers in leadership positions and the importance of working together in a friendly environment. In his speech, DCP Naveen also emphasised the importance of disclosing information that can be made public in a transparent manner in order to maintain the prestige and public confidence in the police institution.

Highlighting the multitude of tasks entrusted to the Police, Naveen urged the top brass to perform responsibly, guide and work together with the police officers working under them to ensure the best possible service to the people.

Naveen urged all officers to perform to the best of their abilities despite the limited staff and resources.
