Allied Insurance is now accepting applications for its Community Fund and Education Fund, two initiatives launched under its corporate social responsibility programme, Premium for Good. Applications will remain open until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, 10 June.
Speaking at a press conference, Aishath Sudha, Allied Insurance's Marketing Manager, underscored the significance of the funding programmes, stating they were designed to remove financial barriers hindering communities from advancing key societal initiatives. She expressed optimism that this year's open call would attract strong participation.
The Allied Community Fund supports non-governmental organisations (NGOs) operating in the outer atolls, enabling them to bring impactful community projects to fruition. The programme focuses on six key areas: health and wellness, social services, environmental protection, women's and children's rights, education, and historical preservation. By addressing these priorities, the fund aims to foster sustainable development and strengthen community resilience.
Four selected proposals will each receive USD 3,242.59 in financial support, providing organisations with the resources needed to implement meaningful initiatives, according to the company. Applications for the Community Fund can be submitted via email to [email protected].
The Allied Education Fund seeks to enhance the education system by fostering initiatives that benefit students and teachers. Designed to support innovative ideas that improve learning environments and academic outcomes, the fund will award USD 1,621.30 to each of the eight selected proposals. This financial assistance, Allied said, is intended to encourage projects that strengthen educational infrastructure and teaching methodologies. Applications for the Education Fund can be submitted via email to [email protected].
Premium for Good, introduced by Allied Insurance in 2018, serves as a framework for advancing the company's corporate social responsibility initiatives. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the programme reinforces Allied's commitment to fostering environmentally sustainable progress and strengthening the education sector.
"Projects previously funded by the Community Fund and Education Fund have been successfully completed across various islands, including Naifaru [Lhaviyani Atoll], Milandhoo, Keyodhoo, Foakaidhoo and Kanditheemu [Shaviyani Atoll], Maamendhoo [Gaafu Alifu Atoll], Hirilandhoo [Thaa Atoll], and Eydhafushi [Baa Atoll]. We hope this new opportunity to apply for funding will also receive strong support," Sudha said. More information on the Allied Community Fund and Education Fund can be found at allied.mv/csr.
