The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has clarified that the Singaporean government has not issued any advisory against travel to the Maldives.
The statement was issued in response to reports in local media suggesting that the Singapore government had advised its citizens not to travel to the Maldives except for essential purposes.
The Ministry said the Singaporean government had confirmed that no such advisory had been issued regarding the Maldives in recent times. It further stated that the statement circulating on social media is not a recent appeal from the Singapore government.
The Foreign Ministry warned against the spread of misinformation about nations with close ties to the Maldives, stating that such actions could negatively affect both the public and the national economy. The Ministry therefore urged the public to act responsibly when sharing information and refrain from misleading narratives, especially in relation to friendly nations.
