Public Service Media (PSM) on Friday announced an Arabic language quiz competition, in a bid to promote the teaching and learning of Arabic language in the country.
The announcement was made at the closing ceremony of PSM’s Children’s Quran Competition by Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Ikram Abdul Latheef.
Speaking at the ceremony held at the meeting hall of Islamic University of Maldives Friday night, Ikram said the quiz competition will be aired on PSM’s proposed religious TV channel which is to be launched coinciding with the beginning of the new Hijri year.
He said the work to launch the new channel is progressing at a fast pace. Ikram further revealed plans to seek assistance from the Saudi Arabian Embassy in the Maldives in producing content for the channel.
PSM has been undertaking efforts to promote Islam in the country, including the launching of a special radio channel for broadcasting religious content and a nationwide Quran competition during every Ramadan.
